Advance Practice Psychiatric Nurse - Burke Medical Center

Responsible for providing evaluations, treatment planning, referral, case management, and individual follow-up, and group therapy based on clinical evaluations of targeted populations.

Essential Functions:
- Assesses clinical, emotional, and educational health needs of patients. Provides individual and group psychotherapy implementing goal specific and measurable treatment plans. Triages/evaluates, provides urgent care psychotherapy for both scheduled and walk-in patients and implements indicated treatment plans.
- Collaborates closely with staff psychiatrists, Primary Care Providers and other clinical staff to maintain continuity and integration of care as well as appropriate follow up.
- Acts as a resource for clinical staff and assists in implementation of in-service and support programs for medical center staff.
- Documents clinical patient encounters in accordance with department policies and procedures following HIPAA regulations.
- Provides telephone evaluations, and recommendations, and consults with a physician as needed regarding medications.
- Participates in patient education activities around psychiatric symptom and disease management.
- Facilitates referrals to appropriate community agencies including hospitals.
- Participates in on going Intensive Outpatient Program development and implementation.
- (This includes input and participation in the types of groups and activities to be offered for post hospital and other patients requiring acute outpatient services.).
- Collaborates with physicians and managers in developing and periodically reviewing protocols relevant to department functioning.
- As directed by a physician, prescribes or orders medication or laboratory testing.
- Participates in monitoring quality of care according to professional standards and established criteria.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of post master's degree experience providing direct advance practice nursing care in a psychiatric clinical setting required.
- Master's degree in mental health nursing required.
License, Certification, Registration
- Current license to practice in the jurisdiction to which person is assigned required.
- NPI required.
- In accord with the specific job description certification as Clinical Nurse Specialist in either Adult, or Child/Adolescent Services by the ANCC required.
