Labor Relations Consultant

Description

Provides region wide labor relations strategic directions through contract negotiations, administration and interpretation. Maintains an effective union management relationship consistent with Kaiser Permanente's labor relations strategy and organizational objectives and goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Negotiates collective bargaining agreements for Northern California Region. Consults with management (HP/H and TPMG) on labor relations and union compensation issues. Collaborates on interregional labor relation projects.
- Consults with Human Resources Leaders and Consultants on labor grievances, investigations, and disputes. Collaborates with Legal on the disposition of arbitrations, and litigations. Collaborates with Human Resources Leaders and Consultants to insure consistent contract interpretation and labor relation policy application.
- Monitors and analyzes union wage and benefit regional market information to ensure competitiveness. Develops, negotiates, implements and ensures consistent administration of region-wide pay systems. Maintains a cooperative win-win relationship with union leadership and employees. Educates and coaches Human Resources Leaders and Consultants and management on all labor relations issues and practices.
- Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis. At any time, Kaiser Permanente reserves the right to reevaluate and change job descriptions, or to change such positions from salaried to hourly pay status. Such changes are generally implemented only after notice is given to affected employees.

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive labor relations experience in a multi-unionized and multi-location environment.
Education

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A

Additional Requirements:
- Experience must demonstrate a successful track record in increasingly responsible roles.
- Working knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws and the NLRA.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, conflict resolution and experience in contract negotiations.
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to influence decisions in a diverse environment.
- Proven ability to make sound judgement on complex HR and business issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or Juris Doctorate
